The Festival of Diwali is a much awaited family celebration of Indians. This festival of lights was yet another time of celebration for us at AIPS. And so, on 19th October 2022 we had Diwali celebrations where learners came dressed in beautiful coloured outfits. The classrooms too were decorated by the facilitators for this day.
The day began with a special Diwali assembly where Ms. Danica Machado led us in a short prayer moment. Sr. Gloria Ferrao along with Sr. Sandra Fernandes and a learner from each class were invited to light the lamp. After which the facilitators performed an elegant prayer dance on the song “Give me oil in my lamp”, which impressed the learners. Following this we gave each learner a little lit diya with which they too did an action song on “This little guiding light”. They then proceeded to place their Diya around the rangoli and the lamp, in conclusion of this meaningful prayer moment.
The learners then moved to the classrooms where the facilitators explained to them the meaning of Diwali and its significance through a chart. It was then time for the activities for the day. First they did a Diya decoration activity where the learners decorated the Diya with seven colors with the assistance of their facilitators. The Nursery learners then did colouring activity of a Diwali lantern and rangoli. The Junior K.G. class made a beautiful craft Diwali lantern as a take-away. A rangoli design coloring was given to them as homework. For their snack break, the learners brought various Diwali special items like Chakli, ladoo, chivda, etc and the facilitators too have a mini Diwali snack time organized for them by the Management.
As the day came to an end the brightness of the light of Diwali shone in the eyes of our little learners and we wished them a joyous Diwali and happy vacation time with their families.
